Sermon Series: Little Christ Ones

“The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.” ~Acts 11:26

Did you know that when the name Christian was first used, it wasn’t used as a compliment or in a positive manner?  In fact, early Christians were mocked as, “Little Christ Ones” because of their following of a commoner and their superstitious beliefs such as, “feed the hungry and take care of the widow,” “the first shall be last” and “bless those who persecute you.” To be a Christian, a “little Christ one,” was to humble yourself, square your shoulders in the face of name calling, and roll up your sleeves to do the hard and difficult work of being like Jesus no matter what.  If the same holds true today, how are we called to be like Jesus?  How do we move from distraction of the world and what society wants from us to undistracted Christians who see God for who God is?  How do we become connected with other Christians to fulfill the greater call of God?  How do we move past what makes us cringe in order to fully be present with God and truly become the presence of Christ? How can we look past our own faults and miscalculations in order to have our hearts beat in rhythm with the One who always sees our needs?

Join us for our Sunday morning worship series, “Little Christ Ones” as together we explore what it takes to really follow Jesus!
