Dr. Brad Smith, Senior Pastor
Love God, love people, do the work.
It may sound simple, but our pastor, Brad Smith, bases his work in ministry around this mantra.
A native North Carolinian, Brad came to TMBC in June 2015. He was born and raised in Fayetteville, with parents who he describes as “role models in every sense of the term.” After graduating from Appalachian State University, Brad pursued his childhood dream of becoming a police officer. He worked with the Fayetteville Police Department as a patrol officer after graduating with honors from the NC Justice Academy. It was during this time he was tapped by Mt. Pisgah to serve as their part-time Youth Minister. His professions of officer and minister often collided in the living rooms of families receiving death notifications and in impromptu parking lot bible studies with fellow officers during holiday shifts. It seemed no matter where Brad went, the tug of ministry followed.
Brad enrolled in the Master of Divinity program at Campbell University. Upon entering school full-time, Brad was presented with a Youth Ministry opportunity at First Baptist Fayetteville and served that congregation while completing graduate school. Upon graduation, Brad was selected for the CBF ministerial residency program and moved with his family to Wilmington, North Carolina to serve as the Assistant Pastor of First Baptist Wilmington. As his residency grew near its end, Brad began discerning where God would use him next. During this season of prayer and discernment, Brad accepted the call to become senior pastor of Rosalind Hills Baptist (RHBC) in Roanoke, Virginia.
Brad and his wife, Jamie, met while both worked at the Fayetteville Police Department. They have two children, Alex and Brooklyn.
Currently, Brad is a member of the Board of Ministers at Campbell University, is a volunteer chaplain with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, certified congregational coach and is vice president of CareNet Counseling East board.
